What is a SOTH campus?

1. What is the mission of the Regional Campuses of Shepherd of the Hills Church?
The Regional Campuses have the same mission as Shepherd of the Hills in Porter Ranch… to seek and save the lost.

2. What are regional campuses and why do we have them?
Fully functioning, prevailing local congregations of Shepherd in areas where people have to drive over 20 minutes to attend church.

We believe that the Southern California area is in desperate need of Jesus. One location in Porter Ranch will not reach many people. Therefore, we started campuses in various areas in Southern California where there is a huge need for Jesus. We want members of Shepherd of the Hills in those areas to pray about supporting the campus that is nearest to them.

3. Do other churches have regional campuses?
Yes! Saddleback Community Church in Orange County, Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago, Christ Fellowship in Miami, North Point Community Church in Atlanta, and Community Christian Church in Chicago (just to name a few) have very successful regional campuses.

4. How many regional campuses does Shepherd have?
Besides the Porter Ranch congregation, we have Westside (by UCLA), Agua Dulce, Pasadena, Woodland Hills and Antelope Valley.

5. Are there plans to launch more regional campuses?
Yes. We have plans to open a church in South Central LA next. We may open more as the Lord leads.

6. How do you determine where to launch a new campus?
There are three essential ingredients needed to launch a regional campus: a group of believers, a pastor to lead them, and a place to meet.

7. What kind of facilities are needed?
Anything that will house our services and children’s ministry… schools, movie theaters, etc. all meet this purpose.

8. What are the long-term plans for facilities?
The campuses are to be self sufficient 3 years after starting, and it depends on if they are in a financial position to lease or buy a building.

9. What is the financial plan for regional campuses?
Each launch of a regional congregation is funded and sustained by the core who make up the congregation. All giving at a regional site supports the ministry of that congregation. A small percentage of their tithes goes back to Porter Ranch for more campus plants.

10. How are regional campuses governed?
As extensions of Shepherd, each congregation is under the oversight of the Shepherd elders. Each campus has a Lead Pastor that leads the staff and volunteers.

11. How are regional campuses staffed?
On-site leadership is provided by the Lead Pastor who leads a staff team and volunteers.

12. Describe the weekly services.

Services are very similar to the Porter Ranch weekend services. Some worship may differ, but they all include the important elements like worship, preaching, communion, diversity, baptisms, fellowship, offering, etc. We have a live worship leader, team, and band. We also have at least one pastor on staff to answer any questions you may have.

13. Will Dudley be preaching at these campuses?
Yes. Dudley preaches via video at most of the campuses, so each campus gets the same teaching as the rest of campuses of Shepherd. He cannot commit to being at every campus every Sunday. When Dudley does preach via video, each campus has a high-def projector so that your sermon experience will be excellent.  In some campuses (but not every one), the Lead Pastor will preach 22 times a year with Dudley.

14. What is the program for children at a regional campus?
We provide ministry for children every service. Small Stars is for birth through Pre-K, while X-treme Kidz is for K-5th grade. We use a relevant Bible centered curriculum to motivate children to godliness.

Our adults who work with your child are required to go through a background check, a personal interview, and training prior to serving.

15. What about Student Ministries?
Each campus offers something for students. Please check with individual campuses for details.

16. How do life groups function at a regional campus?
Life groups are our primary vehicle for fellowship, evangelism, pastoral care and discipleship. Each campus goes through the same group series as the Porter Ranch campus.
